ANKARA (DİHA) - Workers who began a sit-down protest in front of the Soma courthouse after the mine disaster at Soma, are to send a five-person delegation to Ankara to convey their demands to Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yıldız.

The mineworkers action calling for the nationalisation of coal mines and the resignation of the representative of the Maden İş union is continuing. Workers rejected the Maden İş union representative’s request for a meeting, saying: "The union has done nothing for us, he ought to resign. We won’t haggle with you over our dead.”

Soma District Governor Mehmet Bahattin Atçı said regarding the meeting in Ankara, "We have arranged an appointment with the Minister. They will travel from here in a vehicle we have provided and have the meeting. I think it will take place tomorrow.” 301 miners have died in the disaster.
