Soma protests in 5 centers
NEWS CENTER (DİHA) - People in Kurdish cities continue to protest against the murder of hundreds of miners in Soma mine disaster.
MARDİN
Peace Mother’s Assembly in Mardin’s Nusaybin district held a press conference at the building of BDP’s (Peace and Democracy Party) local branch. Speaking at the conference, the spokeswoman of the Assembly, Perihan Altuğ stressed that the people in this country have suffered many massacres so far, reminding of the massacres in Roboski, Maras and Sivas. Altuğ said the prime minister had better resign and lower his head, noting that he instead dared to insult the people of Soma. Altuğ added that “We, as peace mothers, want that the Kurdish and Turkish mothers are no longer made to cry. We condemn all those responsible for this massacre”.
Peace mothers in Mardin’s Derik district have as well held a press conference condemning the Soma massacre that hes left hundreds of miners dead, injured or even still trapped underground.

Siirt’s Peace Mothers Assembly, members of KESK’s Kurtalan Platform of Branches and Egitim-Sen Pervari Branch have also released statements condemning Soma massacre.
ŞIRNAK
In Cizre district of Şırnak, hundreds of high school students, primarily including those from Cizre High school and Dicle Multiple Program High School, have organized a march to protest the murder of hundreds of workers in Soma. Students marched to the government office, calling for the resignation of the ruling AKP government. Speaking on behalf of the group, Feride Benzer said the Soma disaster was not an accident but a massacre, adding that the government could only resign in the face of this massacre it has caused.
IĞDIR
Members of Iğdır Patriotic Students' Association (I-YÖ-DER) staged a one-day sit-in before the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Monument next to the municipality building in protest at the Soma massacre. The students who opened a banner which read “Insistence on capitalism is instance on massacres” have also been supported by BDP Iğdır co-chair Mehmet Anar, and the co-mayors of Iğdır Municipality, Murat Yikit and Saziye Öner.
MERSİN
In Tarsus district Mersin, thousands answering the call of Tarsus Labor and Democracy Forces have gathered in front of Public Education Center and marched to the building of AKP Tarsus organization. The protestors have immediately been stopped by anti-riot police who blocked the road soon after the beginning of the march. Protestors then held one minute’s silence for all those killed in Soma.
