MANİSA (DİHA) - Police attacked mining workers protesting in Soma, a town in Manisa province, where 301 miners had died in a disaster that received worldwide attention in May of this year.

Miners working in mines run by Soma Kömürleri AŞ staged a demo in the town yesterday to protest the employing company for not paying their salaries for months now. After gathering at Cengiz Topel Street, mining workers started a march, chanting slogans highlighting their demands.Police attacked the protestors as they advanced toward the Miner's Memorial, leaving three miners injured during the brutal crackdown.
